BRIGHT drives inter-sectoral UK and global policy by contributing evidence, resources, guidance, and methodological approaches for application elsewhere.
The group works towards changing culture and influencing policy and practice in the fields of gender-based violence, trauma and health through:
- conducting interdisciplinary research in local, national and global contexts
- providing research-informed teaching, supervision and academic mentoring
- strengthening collaborations with healthcare providers and third sector organisations
- engaging people with lived experience and professionals in research, teaching and knowledge mobilisation.
Evidence and impact
BRIGHT is world-leading in addressing methodological and empirical questions with local, national and global relevance and impact on a range of issues, including domestic and sexual violence and harm. Taking a collaborative approach with service providers, voluntary sector organisations and the public, the group has developed excellence in developing, testing, and implementing complex domestic abuse interventions. These are targeted at survivors, perpetrators, whether adults or children, and professionals who may be affected or work with them.
